Hurricane Irene

On August, 28. 2011, Hurricane Irene caused record flooding in many towns throughout Greene County, causing major damage and destroying large areas of the county. The Catskill Creek and the Schoharie Creek both rose to record levels destroying bridges, washing out roads, uprooting trees, and pushing homes off their foundations.

The town of Prattsville received widespread national news coverage since it had nearly been washed away.
